Baby Dylan - 69 wks (16 mths) old today

Dylan is learning so many new things. We jokingly call them "tricks"! He now knows almost all his body parts. The funniest is when he is in a onesie and we ask him where his belly button is. For those of you who don't know - a onesie is a shirt that extends past the waist and has snaps or buttons to allow it to be closed over the crotch. Now that we got that out of the way, anyways, he gets so completely frustrated trying to show you where his belly button is located because he can't lift his shirt up! We laugh at it every time like it was the first time we saw him try.

Baby Dylan - 68 wks (16 mths) old today

The sleepless nights, 2 a.m. feedings, and endless diaper changes ; those days are soooo long gone, now the real fun is really in motion. With a whole lot of temper tantrums to toilet training, raising a toddler; is bringing us its own set of challenges and questions. It is so amazing to reflect back on all the milestones that Mr. Dylan has achieved and a bit overwhelming to think of everything still to come.

Baby Bed Escapee

This photo was taken as we were loading the SUV for our 4Th of July road trip. We put Dylan in his baby bed to chill out while we loaded up the SUV. As I passed by the nursery I glanced in and Dylan was well on his way out of the bed. The mattress has been adjusted and lowered to it's max, the next step is to remove the front of the baby bed and transform it into the toddler bed. We thought we had a few more months before he would climb out, guess we thought wrong!

Baby Dylan - 67 wks (15 mths) old today

Dylan is really picking up on things lately; i.e- learning new dance moves, obeying simple commands & repeating words after hearing them out loud. It is amazing to see his eyes light up when he has mastered something new.

He is also getting really good at throwing tantrums but, we are focusing on putting that to a stop, (yeah right).

He is really into books. I read to him all day and Matt reads to him at bedtime. He loves to read and look at animal books with me. He knows and can say MOO and ARF ARF when he sees a cow and dog. Matt reads a bedtime story to him each night about dreaming to be an astronaut, cowboy, pirate, fireman, that kinda thing. Whenever we are not reading to him, he reads his "Wiggles" books (bought by Aunt Manda).

The Watermelon Crawl!

Today Dylan sunk his teeth into some juicy red watermelon and he loved it. We grilled some yummy burgers as well, but Dylan favored the watermelon over everything else!

Oh by the way, yes, that is a bruise on his nose. He fell out of the chair on the patio and landed on his nose. So don't wig out when you see the photo!

Baby Dylan - 66 wks (15 mths) old today

We had a wonderful trip visiting our families in Louisiana and Alabama over the 4Th of July holiday! Dylan was able to spend time with both sets of grand- parents and played with a bunch of his cousins as well. He wasn't crazy over the drive, but he did pretty well; keeping his fussiness to a minimum, lol. Matt put on his very own firework show with assistance from my brother and our cousin. It was really nice. Dylan slept through alot of the fireworks, but he was bright eyed and ready to play when they ended. I will be sure to post photos of our holiday weekend very soon!

Happy 4th of July America!

On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin their American Dream. The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings.

Happy Birthday, America!

Baby Dylan - 65 wks (15 mths) old today

Today we are leaving for our 4th of July Tour, LOL! We are going to visit Matt's family as well as mine. Hopefully Dylan will be a good back seat driver. He has always done really well in the past for our road trips. So we will keep our fingers crossed!
Dylan's newest thing; he wants to feed himself his meals. He doesn't want you to take any part of the breakfast, lunch or dinner process at all. It is SO messy. He wants to use a spoon for everything. We’re seeing is a lot during meals;he usually insists on feeding himself. If he sights us approaching him with a spoon, he will try to grab the spoon from us. He also wants to put on his shoes solo too. I guess the timing is appropriate, these actions are taking place right around Independence day, I guess he IS "MR. INDEPENDENT!"
